Ultimate crowdsourcing in Iceland

Iceland has taken one monumental step in revitalizing its economy: Amending its constitution via Facebook.

The constitutional council’s weekly meetings are broadcast live there and with two-thirds of tech-savvy Icelanders on Facebook, it seemed the most logical place to go to get attention and feedback.

Tech, Type & Twitter Weekend Wrapup

An unintended, busy weekend provided several noteworthy experiences and debate-worthy information.

Friday night at Carnegie Hall (in Zankel Hall), I attended the WSJ tech talk featuring Sir Howard Stringer, CEO Sony, and Walt Mossberg, the Wall Street Journal’s personal tech columnist. The posted theme shifted in light of the events in Japan. It was interesting to hear the Sony response to the horrific events from their CEO, who is not Japanese, and how they affected both the people and the operations of this multinational corporation. What a week for er, words(?) in the English language!

That’s no hyphen to you.

On 18 march, the Associated Press (AP) changed its style, reported Mashable – for the use of the word “e-mail.” They’ve finally caught up with the rest of the world and took out the hyphen. Hello AP – one less character!
